The holiday season affords so many unique opportunities to enjoy festivities in different ways, which is perfect for getting into the spirit! No matter where you live in the region, these six Christmas activities in Northern Kentucky are fabulous. So, grab the family, pack up for the day, and go to some of the best holiday things to do this season!
How the Grinch Stole Fort Thomas
Head to Fort Thomas on December 5th from 3 pm-6:30 pm for their 2021 Holiday Walk. Begin your walk in the Cultural Arts District, where there is a gingerbread house contest for all to see. Santa will also be on-site, and the tree lighting starts at 6 pm. In addition, there will be food, warm drinks, cookies, singing, raffles, photos with Santa, and an appearance by The Grinch himself! If you’re looking for Christmas things to do in Northern Kentucky, the kids will love this.

Newport on the Levee

Head to Newport on the Levee for a whole host of activities this season. Everything kicks off on November 20th with their event, Light Up the Levee, from 12 pm-7 pm. One highlight is the tree lighting at 5 pm! Children can also visit Santa from November 21st through December 23rd, and Menorah Lights on the Levee takes place on November 28th. See their complete listing of holiday events here.
Santa’s 5k Fun Run
This no-pressure race is the perfect activity to get out some energy if you have older kids. Santa’s 5k Fun Run is low-competition (as in having fun — you don’t have to race). Participants dress up in Santa suits, wear red hats, and do whatever else they can to honor the big guy. The race is on December 4th at 1 pm, which means it will be a little warmer than traditional early morning races.
4th Annual Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair

Head to Campbell County High School on Saturday, December 4th, for their Annual Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair. The event runs from 9 am-2 pm and features handmade items along with a few select retail vendors. Over 100 different businesses are participating, so get your Christmas list written and start to check people off your list at this fun craft fair.
Greater Cincinnati Winterfair
Really close to the Ohio-Kentucky border, Winterfair is actually one of the best Christmas activities in Northern Kentucky for holiday shopping. This juried craft and artisan fair has gift selections for all ages so that you can let your children in on the gift-giving fun! It’s one weekend only — November 26th-28th — so make plans to head there after Thanksgiving Day to shop artisan goods.
Lumaze

Plan on spending a full day at Lumaze, which genuinely has something for all ages. And, yes, you’ll want to allow the whole day to enjoy all of the fun! This event makes our Christmas things to do in Northern Kentucky list, even though it’s right over the border in Cincinnati. Lumaze is an indoor event with thousands of twinkling lights, a train for the kids to ride, visits with Santa, food, drinks, shopping, and tons of photo op spots. Don’t miss one of the best Christmas activities in Northern Kentucky and the greater Cincinnati area!
