Check the Best Christmas Tree Farms in Cincinnati and Get the Best Live Pines in the City

Every family has its holiday traditions, and one favorite is heading to pick out a Christmas tree. You may not agree on style — after all, you like tall and fluffy, and another family member always seems to have a soft spot for the Charlie Brown tree. But this year, you can agree on one thing: Heading to one of the many Christmas tree farms in Cincinnati.

There’s just something about cozying up, grabbing a hot chocolate, and picking a fresh evergreen together. So if you’re wondering where to cut a Christmas tree in Cincinnati, we’ve got five locations to put on your list.

Shaker Tract Tree Farm

If you love getting your evergreen on Thanksgiving weekend, head to Shaker Tract Tree Farm. This location is about 30 minutes northeast of the city, so sing to holiday carols along the way.

They are open only on November 26–28 and December 4 and 5, so plan to get there when they open at 9 am. They close at 5:00 pm, but they’ll get busier as the day goes on — mainly because they offer their patrons a complimentary warm beverage and cookies. Yum!

Another plus is that they have professional foresters on hand to answer questions and help pick the perfect tree! Also, there’s no need to bring a saw, sled, or ground mat — the farm provides those. If you need help, the staff is on hand to assist you so you can securely take home your selected tree.

Bartels Farm

If you want to know where to cut a Christmas tree, head to Bartels Farm, located a little over an hour northwest of Cincinnati. However, it would be best to act fast because they only take online appointments on November 26–28.

Bartels prides itself on carefully growing and maintaining its evergreens so that patrons can have a gorgeous selection. Trees are $35 and up, and they offer five different species. Sounds good? The link is here if you want to pick a time to head to the farm.

Berninger’s Christmas Trees and Wreaths

Some families love fresh greens everywhere, indoors and out. If this sounds like a dream, you can get it all at Berninger’s Christmas Trees and Wreaths. Cut down your own Christmas tree in Cincinnati to put inside your home, and pick out gorgeous wreaths for your windows.

This farm has been around since 1955 and claims to have hundreds of trees over six feet tall. Bonus: They also have free hot chocolate and popcorn for their guests.

Berninger’s is located about 40 minutes northwest of Cincinnati and is open Fridays and weekends from 9:00 am – 5 pm starting the day after Thanksgiving. Also, if you are wondering where to buy live Christmas trees in Cincinnati, this is the place! They offer pre-cut Frasier Firs starting at just $35.

Koch Christmas Trees

Reservations are also required at Koch Christmas Trees, which is around 45 minutes northwest of the city. However, the good news is that they are open for several dates in November and December.

One point to note is that you can only purchase one tree per time slot. So, if you require multiple trees, you need to sign up for the same number of spots. The farm is open from 10 am – 5:30 pm on November 26 and 27 and December 3, 4, 11, 12, and 18. Koch also sells fresh wreaths, and feel free to stop by without an appointment to purchase those.

Big Tree Plantation

They are located about 40 minutes northeast of Cincinnati and be sure to visit their famed gift barn. You can get your tree and cross a few presents off your list while you’re there. If you’re looking for other pieces of fresh decor, Big Tree Plantation also has wreaths and makes custom garland for staircases and porch rails.

No matter which of our Christmas tree farms in Cincinnati strikes your fancy, be sure to plan ahead. Gather the family and make memories while selecting the perfect tree to decorate and enjoy throughout the holidays. And if you’re looking to start a new holiday tradition, be sure to visit Lumaze Christmas Light Festival & Market. Experience the sights, sounds, and flavors of the season in the heart of the city.
